ACF FARMERS FIELD SCHOOL AFIKPO EBONYI STATE NIGERIA

ACF Farmers Field School (FFS) is an arm of Abraham’s Children Foundation (ACF) established to run Agricultural Agric Extension Advisory Services to farmers in Ebonyi State Nigeria. The primary objective of the organization was to support government effort in training farmers in modern Agricultural Technologies to raise production and improve their standard of living. The organization has qualified manpower and adequate land space for skill plots to demonstrate practicals. The FFS is designed to tackle farmers field related challenges such as poor yield, pests and diseases, weed control, and other Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). The Organization has conducted series of training and On Farm Adoptive Research (OFAR) testing such parameters like Adoptability, Growth, Pest and Diseases Control and Yield on Rice, Sweet Cassava, Soya Bean, Yam, Okra, Tomato and Cow Pea to make sure farmers get a better results from their production.

The establishment of Farmer’s Field School (FFS) by Abraham’s Children Foundation (ACF) is a welcome program to compliment government effort in boosting food and livestock to wage a war against hunger and poverty. ACF is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded to resolve conflicts and restore peace in disputed areas through delivery of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Services..

Recently, the organization trained farmers on Zero Hunger and Wealth Creation. During the training farmers were drilled on Profitable Livestock’s Production, Good Agricultural Practices on Crop Production, and Marketing of Farm Products, handled by able Resource Persons. However, the organization enumerated its package/action plan for 2024 which include Quarterly Training, Distribution of Agro Inputs, Establishment of OFAR, Massive Crop Cultivation, Establishment of Horticulture Nurseries, Field Days, and Livestock Production and among others. Meanwhile, the organization has the challenge of Fund, Mobility, Bore Hole, Agro Inputs, etc. The organization is requesting for support and collaboration to partner with individuals, organizations and Government to achieve its st up goals this year.

Agriculture is one of oldest occupation in the world. It is known to be a renewable resource among others. One of the ways government is helping our farmers is through Agricultural Extension Delivery Services because Knowledge is Power. Unfortunately, the government cannot do it alone by providing adequate Extension Agents to cover all the farm families in the country. For this reason there is need to support the Stakeholders with Private Agric Extension Advisory to small and medium scale farmers to improve productivity. The insufficient food and animal production have resulted to high cost of food materials resulting to hunger and malnutrition. Women and children are most affected.
